What is a climate shell?
The building envelope is a composite system consisting of layers and materials that naturally belong in the walls, floors, and roof of a building. Typical examples of components included in a building envelope are vapor barriers, wind protection, sealing tapes for windows and doors, and collars, among others. Together, these products form a protective layer in the building's structure
The main purpose of the building envelope, in conjunction with insulation and ventilation systems, is to:
From the inside:
• Prevent heat and energy losses
• Prevent moisture from penetrating the structure
When the products included in a building envelope are assembled and interact optimally, there are great opportunities to influence the following factors:
Reduced energy consumption
• More resource-efficient building
• Reduced costs
More comfortable indoor climate
• More comfortable temperature in summer and winter
• Better air
Protected construction
• Reduced risk of unwanted (and often invisible) damage in the construction
• Provides a building that lasts better over time
