Continued assured quality of P-marked products from TECCA

The P-marking is being phased out and will be replaced by third-party reviewed quality control and product testing according to the control document IQD128. Auditing and testing will continue to be carried out by RISE to ensure the durability and quality of the products.

As it has been pointed out in recent years (by Boverket) that the EU's Construction Products Regulation does not allow any product marking other than the CE marking, RISE has concluded that it can no longer continue with the P-mark for this type of product.

The P-marking for flexible barrier kits made of polymeric materials (air and vapor barriers, vapor brakes, safety fabric, wind protection, and underlay roofs, etc.), issued by RISE, has since its introduction in 2013 served as a guarantee that the products meet the requirements for use in construction for Swedish conditions, including long aging resistance and several other important properties.

The regulations for CE marking of this type of product are unfortunately not suitable for the applications that occur in our market. Most importantly, unlike the P-marking (formerly Type Approval), it does not contain an adequate method for determining lifespan. An air and vapor barrier can therefore be CE-marked without having any lifespan at all.

TECCA has therefore taken the following measures: The P-marking, and the controls that have formed the basis for it, will be replaced with a third-party reviewed quality control with product testing (according to IQD128). The review of our quality system and testing of our products will continue to be carried out by RISE. The requirements to be met are very similar to those applicable for P-marking today, and include all tests performed according to P-marking to verify the product's lifespan and otherwise ensure its quality.

In practical terms, you will receive same product as today but without any P-marking in addition to the CE mark and information that IQD 128 is applied. The documentation will be very similar to today's, but will change from being a certificate regarding the product to being a statement that we follow the manufacturing and control procedures (IQD128) established by RISE for the product.

A transition period between the two systems will be applied where some older produced and P-marked products will appear alongside newly manufactured ones according to IQD 128.

Please feel free to reach out if anything is unclear or if additional questions arise!
