Active School creates a safer future for the children
Aktiv Skola is a foundation that advocates for equal conditions for all children, with the aim of improving all schools in Sweden. The foundation provides experts in areas that pose risks to students and can offer educational materials to all schools free of charge, thus becoming the extra resource that schools rarely can afford.
This year, the Aktiv Skola foundation has been working to make a difference in Swedish schools for ten years. By providing free access to materials to address important issues such as bullying, grooming, drugs, and health, they have successfully educated several thousand students, teachers, and guardians since their inception.
The material they provide is downloadable and completely free of charge – including films, lectures, and educational materials – which helps students, teachers, and parents understand and become aware of the challenges young people may face in today's society. In addition to digital material, Aktiv Skola also sends out printed materials, such as the Parent Handbook, to schools and specific grades.
The foundation has also created a trust group consisting of individuals from various professional categories. The group includes, among others, a police officer, counselor, lawyer, and doctor, whom parents, teachers, and other school staff are welcome to contact if they have any questions concerning their children or students. This service is also completely free of charge.
The foundation has contact persons at every school throughout Sweden, and thanks to this, there is good insight into what the schools want and need.
Active School believes in incorporating as much movement as possible during the school day, and that it doesn't have to be complicated, time-consuming, or boring.
Lecturer Martina Söderholm has a background in healthcare and has worked for many years with children and adults with neuropsychiatric disabilities.
Tryggve and Joy are Aktiv School's mascots and are primarily aimed at students in grades F-3. Here they are dancing with a school class to break the sedentary behavior for a few minutes.
Bullying, grooming, drugs, and health are areas that affect many of today's youth, yet they are rarely prioritized for discussion in today's education.
It is in collaboration with experts in these fields that Aktiv Skola develops user-friendly educational materials that can be used in teaching. Through the knowledge bank on their website, school staff can download award-winning films, teacher guides, cheat sheets, and recorded lectures.
Supporting Aktiv Skola is a way to help create a school where all students can feel safe.
