T-Butyl Joint Tape
T-Butyl is a double-sided tape made of elastic butyl mass. The tape is self-adhesive on both sides and is gray in color. The butyl mass in the tape is aggressive with high adhesive ability, strength, as well as long-lasting elasticity and durability. The joint tape has high diffusion, water, and air tightness. The product comes with a 30-year product warranty. A protective strip protects the tape on the roll and is removed during installation.

Application Area
For external and internal applications in roofs, exterior walls, floors, and foundations. Primarily as double-sided joint and sealing tape in joints and connections. Primarily for membranes in foundations against radon gas and moisture (e.g., Radonmembran Super) or for water-draining underlay roofs (e.g., T-Diff Pro). Also used for various climate screens in exterior walls or applications for floor materials as moisture barriers. Works optimally on substrates and materials such as climate screens made of polyethylene (e.g., vapor barriers/ T-Foil products or moisture barriers), sheets/membranes made of polypropylene (e.g., wind protection/ T-Wind products or vapor retarders). Also works on surfaces of wood (lacquered/planed), glass, PVC, metal, and polyurethane.
Installation
The surface should be dry, clean, and free from grease (including silicone). Surfaces that are more porous, such as concrete or plaster, should be pre-treated with a suitable primer. For outdoor use, asphalt primer (Primer K-80) is possible. In case of uncertainty, always carefully test the adhesion. The joint tape is attached to one of the surfaces with the protective strip on the opposite side intact. Installation should be done with full pressure on the joint (preferably using a roller). The full strength of the joint is achieved only after a few hours, depending on the temperature. When fastening overlapping surfaces, remove the protective strip, stretch over, and press firmly. The required overlap should be such that the joint tape is placed in the middle of the overlap and between the two layers. When cross-jointing the joint tape, press together double a few centimeters and then continue. The joint tape should be installed completely unbroken lengthwise to avoid leaks in the overlap or connection. When installing softer membranes/foils in connection with fixed structures, a little extra material should be taken (in folds) before the fixing taping. This is to absorb any material movements. Larger movements in joints should generally be avoided. The tape should not be stretched too much in length during installation as the amount of joint compound decreases, which can impair adhesion and tightness.
Important!
- Store dry and horizontally, protected from sun and temperatures >+40°C
- Prolonged operating temperatures above +40°C affect aging resistance
