T-Flex Outdoor
T-Flex Outdoor is a diffusion-tight and flexible exterior construction tape with optimized properties for protection against sunlight (UV), high adhesive strength, and long durability. The tape is made of a co-polyethylene, reinforced with polyester threads, and coated with an aggressive acrylic adhesive. A silicone-coated protective paper serves as adhesive protection. The materials used are free from toxins and solvents. Available in two widths; 60 mm (standard) and 75 mm (specifically for hard wind protection boards or more challenging taping).
Optimal for outdoor use
UV-protected for up to 12 months
Good adhesion on difficult surfaces
Aged for at least 25 years
Application Area
Primarily for external, vertical or steep wind protection layers behind the facade in exterior walls. Mainly for taping joints and penetrations to achieve optimal wind and water tightness (rain). Adheres to most surfaces from soft wind protection fabrics of Non-Woven (PP), to hard wind protection boards in gypsum, fiberglass, and cement.
Also works on surfaces of glass, polyurethane, metal, and wood (planed, lacquered). Special adhesion tests have been conducted by RISE (Research Institutes of Sweden) with T-Flex Outdoor on particularly difficult substrates such as weather-resistant wind barrier boards like Cembrit Windstopper, Siniat Windpanel Premium, Knauf Danogips Climaboard, Norgips Utvändig-X9, Knauf Danogips/Norgips Weatherboard 365, and Gyproc Glasroc X Storm.
The product comes with a 30-year product warranty and is also included in a 30-year functional warranty. See separate terms.
Installation
The tape is always applied to the surface with firm and strong thumb or finger pressure. Post-processing is preferably done with a roller or plastic spatula. See the applicable installation instructions.
Approval
System testing (according to standard SP5632) has been performed by RISE, as well as testing of age resistance equivalent to IQD 128 for adhesion (at least 25 years) with T-Flex Outdoor on wind protection fabric T-Wind.
Important!
- Consider movements in the substrate. These should be minimized for optimal strength and durability.
- Test the adhesion on questionable surfaces beforehand.
- Do not stretch the tape too elastically as it will always try to return to its original shape and width.
- The applicable surfaces should be clean, dry, and free from dirt, grease, and silicone. Consider the adhesion to the substrate as well as any special surface treatments.
- More porous surfaces or surfaces with reduced adhesion should be pre-treated with a substrate-compatible acrylic-based primer.
- Ensure that the current substrate is sufficiently secured according to the material's installation instructions and that the taping is not solely a load-bearing element for the substrate, but primarily a joint seal.
- When taping at lower temperatures: The tape will achieve its final strength at temperatures above +5°C. Always make sure to press firmly on the entire back of the tape during application, and never overstretch the tape at any point.
- Preferably store the tape at room temperature before installation. Completely avoid taping on icy, frosty, or damp surfaces.
- To ensure age resistance, the tape should be stored in a dry environment and protected from sunlight (UV radiation). Avoid higher storage temperatures (> +30°C).
- The product should be integrated and protected during use behind the outer facade. Maximum external UV exposure during construction is up to 12 months.
- The top edge of horizontal nail battens against the wind barrier can be taped for optimal weather/rain protection. Half of the tape's width on the batten and half on the wind barrier/wall.
- For identification, always tape up the first piece with the label visible!
