Products that make a difference
The largest part of our climate impact is in the products we sell. Therefore, it is also here that we can make the biggest difference.
We are actively working to develop and offer products with a lower climate footprint – through smarter material choices, increased use of recycled and bio-based content, and reduced resource usage.
At the same time, we know that sustainability is not just about materials. Products with long lifespans, high functionality, and the right quality from the start reduce the need for replacements, repairs, and unnecessary material consumption.
Industry Perspectives
To drive development forward, collaboration and new perspectives are required. Here, OBOS talks about its work with recycled materials and sustainable solutions in the construction industry.
This is how we work
We work closely with our suppliers to develop products with better environmental performance and ensure that the data we communicate is relevant and reliable. At the same time, we continuously evaluate our range to identify where we can reduce climate impact without compromising on quality or function.
Our focus areas
When we develop products, we focus on three areas that help us make more conscious choices regarding function, material, and climate impact. The goal is to develop solutions that meet the construction industry's demands today and contribute to the development of a more sustainable construction industry over time.
Lower climate impact
We work to increase awareness of the carbon footprint of our products, including through EPDs and climate data where available. This provides us with a better basis for developing products, comparing alternatives, and making more informed choices in our own operations and together with our customers.
Smarter material choices
We work to increase the proportion of recycled and bio-based materials where it is technically possible and relevant to the product's function. Through more thoughtful material choices, we aim to reduce the need for new fossil raw materials and use resources more efficiently.
Long lifespan
Products with long lifespans and high functionality can contribute to fewer replacements, repairs, and reduced material consumption over time. Therefore, function, quality, and sustainable construction are important aspects of our product development.
Transparency through climate data
Climate data is becoming an increasingly important part of decision-making – for us, our customers, and the industry at large. Therefore, we are working to make relevant and reliable information more accessible through EPDs and product data. By increasing transparency, we want to provide our customers with better conditions to compare products and make more informed choices in their projects.
