T-Roof YAM 2000
T-Roof Yam 2000 is a dimensionally stable, water-repellent simple underlay felt. The product is made of a mineral felt core coated with SBS bitumen and a surface sprinkled with sand. Adhesive edges of bitumen with protective foil that is removed during installation.
Heat stable
UV-protected for up to 2 months
Down to 1.5° (approx. 1:40) roof pitch
Application Area
Used as a base sheet on nailable solid wooden substrates. For surface layers such as welded waterproofing of bitumen, surface felt (not weldable), and shingles. The surface layer dictates but with a minimum slope of 1.5° (approx. 1:40). For the minimum thickness of the substrate's wooden panel, see table AMA Hus -21, HSD.1331/1 (tongue and groove at least 23 mm). The substrate can consist of wooden panels, wooden elements, or plywood designed to limit movement at joints, for example, by being equipped with tongue and groove that are well joined.
Installation
Preparation:
The installation direction is generally across the slope of the roof. The surface should be clean, even, and dry. Sheets are laid with at least 80 mm overlap at longitudinal joints and at least 150 mm at transverse joints. Transverse joints should be cut at an angle with an extra overlap at the top of at least 300 mm (in addition to 150 mm).
Nailing and seam gluing:
Nailing is performed in a zigzag pattern visible through both layers with roofing nails at least 25 x 2.5 mm (hot-dip galvanized). Maximum nail spacing is 60 mm. It should be done with factory-applied self-adhesive tape along the layers. At cross joints, gluing is done with joint adhesive Tätklister K-36. For secure adhesion, any adhesive edges should be preheated with a hot air gun if necessary. For more detailed installation instructions and other detailed solutions, see the separate installation guide (included with each roll and in digital format on the website).
Important!
- Consider roof slopes <14° (<1:4) where the underlay may be exposed to precipitation and/or where the outer roofing is not installed directly adjacent. Coat the open and visible nailing with Sealant K-36 or equivalent repair compound for bitumen waterproofing.
- For wind-exposed areas (coastal), it is recommended to choose a more secure underlay such as T-Roof YEP 2500.
- For mechanical fastening and especially the use of a nail gun, ensure that the nailing is done straight down and with the correct pressure on the substrate, so optimal tightness is achieved against the substrate for the nail head.
- The adhesive edge has aggressive adhesion under normal conditions! In cooler weather (<+10°C), there may sometimes be a need to improve the adhesion. Use a heat gun and gently warm the adhesive surfaces. Press the seam together carefully! In cool weather, rolls should be pre-stored for at least 1 day in a warm storage.
- Be mindful to gently load the surface and immediately repair any damage with roofing felt adhesive Sealant K-36 or equivalent repair compound for bitumen waterproofing. For larger damage, use and attach/glue a strip from the underlay felt.
- Always cover with the surface layer (roofing felt, welded waterproofing, or shingle tiles) as soon as possible to avoid the effects of sunlight and adverse weather conditions. During construction, the underlay can be exposed to sunlight for up to a maximum of two months. In the usage stage, the underlay should be protected by the outer roof covering.
- Rolls should be stored upright on a flat, dry surface and protected from sun and precipitation.
- T-Roof YAM 2000 is diffusion-tight and when mounted on a wooden base, the space underneath should be ventilated according to standard practice.
